My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Big Mama is an affectionate, athletic, adventure-loving 3 year old Pit Bull/Staffie mix who enjoys going on walks and meeting new people! Big Mama is a hefty girl right now, weighing in at 70lbs, but we are slowly helping her get back to a healthy weight.

Big Mama was found laying in the middle of the road in a neighborhood before a kind couple decided to save her. Unfortunately, they had a pup who was not good with other dogs and with no plan in place for Big Mama, they had to take her to the local shelter. Being a pittie mix, she was quickly put on the euthanasia list after her stray hold was up. Through the tireless networking of her original finders, we became aware of Big Mama and decided to get her to safety!

Big Mama is incredibly people friendly and loves to cuddle. She can be unaware of her size at times, so when she's zooming around the yard at high speeds you'd better watch out! Despite her being overweight, this girl can MOVE! When she was staying at her finder's house in the backyard, she would often jump up on their tall patio table to sunbathe! She loves to lounge around when she's indoors, but once she's outside it's gametime!
Big Mama has done well with most of the pups she's met, but she seems to do best around medium to large size male dogs. She tends to be more assertive and dominant with other female dogs which most dogs don't appreciate, so a home with only male dogs would be best for her. While she does enjoy playing with others, she does not need a doggy sibling to live her best life!

Big Mama is potty and crate trained, knows sit and shake, is very smart, and is good on a leash. Due to her energy level and being unaware of how big she is, she should ideally go to a home without children who she could accidentally injure.

Big Mama is located in Houston TX but can be transported to most US states for adoption.
