My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet our goofy boy, Banjo! This 2 year old mixed breed pup is a ball of fun! He weighs about 20lbs. Banjo enjoys investigating the grounds on his walks and playing with toys. He came to us from local animal control and is ready to find his forever home! Banjo seems to do well around the other dogs he's met here so far. He loves to go on walks with our volunteers and is very outgoing. Banjo has met a few younger children and did very well. We know this awesome dog would make a great addition to a family of any kind!

Additional adoption info

Please be sure to review the shelters Adoption Process prior to considering our facility for your adoption journey.

Adoption application

Go meet their pets

WCHS is conducting the viewing of our animals by appointment only. The Kennel Adoption Application and Cat Room Questionnaire can be found on our website under the ADOPT tab, then click Adoption Process. Please be sure to review our processes closely before filling out either form.
Once the forms are submitted, management will receive and review them within 24-48 hours. Please understand that our facility is receiving a high volume of request and are doing our best to accommodate as many as possible. Management may not contact you for 3-5 days. You will either be contacted via phone, or email with the findings of our inquiry and/or to schedule your one-on-one viewing appointment with staff.
Please understand that our facility takes the health and safety of its staff and surrounding community very seriously. With that being said, entry to our building is only granted to those who have been pre-approved and have been given a viewing appointment. Walk-in viewing IS NOT an option.

More about this shelter

As Will County’s original no-kill shelter we’ve been serving the area for over 40 years with a single purpose, provide a safe haven for homeless pets and help them find their forever home.

Every day of the year we care for up to 30 homeless dogs and 60 cats looking for their forever homes. We provide for their general health care, shelter and well being through our network of volunteers and resources.

It’s important that you know that we’re a private shelter 501(3)(c) not-for-profit that receives no federal or local government dollars to run our facility and care for pets. In fact the shelter relies on generous donations from people just like you to make it all happen.
