My story

Hi,

I can take some time getting used to new places and situations, but once I've grown accustomed to my surroundings I want lots of petting and lap time. I also enjoy playing with water from time to time and would like to have some playtime to burn off some of my extra cat energy. I came from a home in which I was the only cat and it wasn't very fun. Here at the shelter I spend my days with Bobo, Talent and Biggie and I love it! I need to go to a home with at least another cat if not more. I am currently on special food for urinary issues and should not be taken off it without consulting the veterinarian you'll be taking me to if you adopt me. If you're interested in adopting me please submit an application today.

Once an application is approved, we ask potential adopters to come to the shelter to visit the pet or pets they are interested in. If it seems like a great fit, then we would have you fill out the Adoption Contract and provide you with the pet's medical chart, some of the food it is currently eating, and offer any advice we can on that individual cat or dog.

Our shelter is located at 1471, US Highway 20 West, Elizabeth, IL, 61028. Our hours are: Monday - Saturday, 10am to 3pm. We can provide by-appointment-only visits from 3pm to 5:30pm. We are closed on Sundays.

Safe Haven is a small non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, located in Jo Daviess County and supported entirely by community donations & memberships. Our Board of Directors, Shelter Staff, and Dedicated Volunteers believe that together we can make a difference in the lives of cats, dogs, and the people who care about them.

Our mission at Safe Haven is to provide a haven and treatment for adoptable cats & dogs, place them in suitable homes, increase awareness of the humane treatment of animals and promote spay & neuter programs to reduce the overpopulation of cats and dogs in Jo Daviess County.
