My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Pun was brought in by a community member.

At SDHS:
Pun has been vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. Pun is now ready for his new home!

Why this pet is the one for you:
Pun is calling out to a dog savvy person who can see a diamond in the rough because Pun is a little rough around the edges and he knows it. Pun wants someone with dog training skills, patience, understanding and love to train him in what it means to be a good dog. Pun knows that it is good to be a good dog and he is ready to learn. We can help you with tips for how to put some polish on a gem like Pun so that even Miss Manners will say "what a good dog" when she comes to visit!!!! Pun will want outdoor space for exploring because he is a sniffer dog - always sniffing as he walks and explores. He will not want to be left alone for very long because he gets restless and forgets his good manners training when he is alone for long periods. He wants to be within close range of his people. Have you been wanting a dog that you can put the finishing touches on so you can beam with pride when people stop and say "what a good dog"? If so, come to our shelter and ask to meet Pun, a diamond in the rough.

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
