Kiwi is the definition of adorable!
Kiwi is about 3 months old and is a confident girl who knows what she wants. She loves to play and is always on the lookout for fun. She is a total extrovert who is eager to make friends with whoever she meets. Kiwi currently weighs around 6lbs and we estimate she will be 10-15lbs when fully grown.
Kiwi came to us from a local shelter with her mom, Strawberry, and 4 siblings. They were found as strays, and at only a couple of weeks old, the shelter was no place for them to stay long. Luckily, we were able to rescue the family and they now are all ready for adoption.
Kiwi is the mastermind of the group and she is the smarty pants who finds out where the treats are kept and how to break out of the pen. She is always down for some wrestling time with her sisters and is quick to find a lap for nap time. Don't let her short legs fool you, Kiwi is an adventurer and is looking for an active family who can keep up with her puppy antics.
Being the smart cookie she is, Kiwi is prone to getting bored fast, so her new family will need to be prepared to keep her days full of mental stimulation. She is still learning all her basic manners, so needs a family committing to continuing her training and socialization.
Kiwi loves other dogs and would be a great little sister to another playful small/medium-sized dog. Kiwi lives with cats in her foster home and could do well living with dog-savvy cats in her forever home with a slow introduction and proper supervision. Kiwi could be a wonderful addition to a family with kids 8 years or older.
Kiwi has been doing well with her housetraining but is still perfecting her potty habits, so her new family should expect to continue her training. She has been doing well being left in a pen overnight. Kiwi hasn't spent too much time alone, so would do best with a family who can slowly acclimate her to being home alone.
Kiwi is going to make a family the luckiest people around. If you think that might just be you, submit an adoption application today!
Kiwi's adoption fee is $400.

The Yolo County SPCA is a private, not-for-profit, foster home-based animal rescue organization and does not have a shelter. All our animals awaiting adoption are in foster homes.
Our adoption fees help us cover the cost of spay/neuter surgery, microchip and registration, and rabies vaccination (if over 4 months of age at intake or spay/neuter) for all animals. Dogs are tested for heartworm, started on preventatives, and given a DAPP vaccination. Adult dogs are up to date on their vaccinations prior to adoption. Puppies will be current on the vaccinations appropriate to their age. The adopter is responsible for additional vaccinations as necessary after the adoption.
