Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Hi there, I’m Lucky Lou, and I truly know how lucky I am! I’m a sweet little ball of fur ready to fill your life with joy. My journey began when I was found abandoned near a dumpster in downtown Dallas—dirty, starving, very dehydrated, and begging for help. Thankfully, some kind-hearted people rescued me, and that’s how I got my name!
Those scary days of being alone on the streets are behind me. Now, I’m an independent and confident little lady who embraces life to the fullest! I love meeting new friends, and my foster brothers can’t get enough of me. With my playful spirit and boundless energy, I’d thrive in a home with other cats to romp around with.
When playtime winds down, I’m all about snuggles! Just scoop me up, and I’ll shower you with soft kisses. Oh, I almost forgot to tell you, I’m very smart and have the coziest fur around. I can’t wait to find my forever home, could it be with you?
**Because we require home visits, we only adopt locally to the Dallas/Fort Worth area. For more on adoption policies, please see the How it Works page of our website, www.habitat4paws.org.

2.
Home Check
We require a home visit. If all is good and everyone is in agreement, we will leave the pet for a 5 day home trial.
3.
Pay Fee
After a successful home trail, we ask to finalize the paperwork and pay the adoption fee.
Additional adoption info
FEES:
Dogs are $250
Puppies under 1 year are $275
Cats and kittens are $185
All animals have been spayed/neutered, received age appropriate vaccinations, had a heart-worm test, a Feline Leukemia test and a fecal check and are dewormed, microchipped and current on heart-worm and flea preventative medications at the time of adoption.
Adopters must be 21 and have a valid Texas driver’s license or a state-issued ID that matches the home address. If new to the area, a utility bill in the name of adopter will suffice. Renters must present proof of pet deposit or landlord approval to have a pet.
We require that you visit with a pet and adoption counselor. We prefer that all family members be present when the pet is introduced to its potential new family. Current pets are welcomed and encouraged to be part of the meeting too.
If a good match is found, adopters complete an application. Same day adoptions may be done; however, Habitat 4 Paws reserves the right to request a home visit prior to adoption. We do not hold pets nor do we adopt on a first-come/first-serve basis.

More about this rescue
The mission of H4P is to rescue and find permanent homes for dogs and cats while caring for them in a volunteer-staffed facility and foster program. We are currently raising funds for a building and in the interim are a foster based group.
Beyond just sheltering animals, we are proactive in other areas that will help keep animals out of municipal shelters. Paws Pantry animal-food bank collects and distributes dog and cat food to those in need. H4P hosts microchip clinics so that animals will have a permanent ID and can be reunited with their owners.
