My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Medusa
On September 25, I walked down the Monon Trail, hoping to find my home. I was already spayed, so you know I had a family once, but I don`t know where they are. Luckily, a thoughtful person stopped and took me to the HSHC. It was a comfort to be taken care of and checked over medically. Because I had a UTI, I was given medicine, and my live fleas were treated. The staff noticed I had some white paint wisps on my coal-black coat. They are slowly going away. I moved into a three-story Condo with a litterbox, a cozy bed, toys, and blankets. I felt I was living in the lap of luxury! Because I had been on my own for so long, I was hesitant to interact with all these new folks. The interviewer lady (IL) stopped by to visit, and I was pleased to have her attention and affection, but I was still a little on edge. I let her pet me and give my neck a massage, but I startled easily at any loud noise. I am 6-years-old, and I use my litterbox well. If only I could find someone who would love me as much as I love them, I would forget all the lonely years. When I feel comfortable with you, I will show you how much you mean to me with headbutts, nose kisses, and tons of purrs. 11-11-24

More about this shelter

With an open admission policy, a No-Kill philosophy, and more than 3,100 animals crossing our threshold each year, we have still maintained a 98% placement rate over the last 3 years.

This is an amazing feat for any organization…let alone one that takes in some of the most abused, injured and seriously ill animals imaginable.
