Meet the Pet
This helps Murci's Mission with pet care costs.
Maroon Tenderheart is an adorable and timid herding breed mix that came to Murci's Mission from our partners at SCRAPS. She has an estimated birthdate of 10/15/2021. She is 42lbs.
Unfortunately, it appears that Maroon was likely previously hit by a car and not taken to the vet as she has some thickened healed broken bones and her left hip luxates (pops in and out of socket). After thorough evaluation with an orthopedist and the SCRAPS medical team, Maroon appears to be consistently comfortable and still able to make use of her leg. If things were to change in the future in regards to her quality of life and pain levels, as well as the functionality of the limb, her adoptive family would reach back out to Murci's Mission and we would schedule and fund the amputation of the limb with our vet.
Maroon is good with other dogs, cats, and gentle children. We speculate her meek personality may be a wonderful match for a child who really loved spending time with dogs. She is crate trained and appears house trained. She is still very fearful of leash pressure and being led by the collar, but with continual fair exposure, she is letting go of the leash panic and learning to walk on lead with her foster family. She sleeps through the night in her crate or in bed.
Maroon is just an especially tender and gentle dog who deserves a family who will make her the apple of their eye. She won't need a lot of physical activity, just a place to rest her head with people who treat her with kindness and inclusion. She must also be kept very lean for the duration of her life to reduce pain and mobility reduction due to the damage previously sustained.
Maroon comes spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and dewormed. Her adoption fee is $200 and includes her leash, collar, ID tag, harness, medical records, and a sample of the food she's been eating, as well as a medical waiver stating that Murci's Mission will cover the cost of a potential future limb amputation at our vet. To be considered to adopt, please begin by visiting www.murcismission.org and sending in an application.
Thank you for considering our girl.
