Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Clay!
A big-hearted two-year-old Rottweiler from Philadelphia, PA, whose giant stature is matched only by his giant capacity for love and attention. Wrapped in a striking black and brown coat, Clay’s a playful goofball who doesn’t quite understand how large he is—he’ll happily try to curl up in your lap as if he were a tiny dog! This loyal companion thrives on affection and loves being around people he knows, making him the perfect match for a family with time and attention to spare.
Clay is more than just his size; he's a smart pup with a knack for learning. He’s already graduated from a formal training program, where he mastered essential commands like “heel,” “sit,” “down,” “stay,” “bed,” and “spot.” With regular practice, Clay quickly picked up on these, proving he’s not only eager to please but also quite the listener—especially when treats are involved! While he loves practicing his commands, Clay prefers quieter settings, as loud or chaotic environments can be a bit overwhelming for him.
Clay’s ideal family would be one with experience handling a big, energetic Rottweiler. He has a history of getting along with other pets when properly introduced, as he did well in his foster home with a dog and cat. However, he's been known to be reactive toward unfamiliar animals and can get stressed in new or busy situations. Clay’s a strong guy who needs someone who understands his cues and can provide him with a calm, structured environment to help him feel secure.
Despite a couple of minor warning bites during moments of stress, Clay is a gentle giant at heart who just needs the right guidance and plenty of love. His new pet parent should have a fenced yard for him to run around in, as well as the time and patience to continue his positive training. Clay is crate trained, fully house-trained, and loves long walks.
Are you ready for an affectionate, goofy, and loyal companion who’s always eager to offer a paw? Clay can’t wait to meet his new family! Contact us at adopt@joyfulpets.com to learn more about him. Could Clay be the perfect fit for your home?
