My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

CRANBERRY hails from the Northern community of Poplar Hill and cane south with her brother (Blueberry) to find her loving family. She’s  had 2 sets of puppy vaccines, a microchip and been deemed a healthy girl by her vet. We have no information on her parents so the breeds we have her listed as is just a guess based on what she looks like. She has some small breed mixed in there too and we’re leaning towards a JRT due to her small stature. This little girl is super friendly, loveable and very snuggly.
CRANBERRY’s crate trained and sleeps quietly in it at night and will also take naps in there during the day. She loves to go on walks and enjoys being outside and playing in the grass. She’s in a foster home with kittens and loves to play with them and chase them around. She would suit a home with another dog and a cat in it due to her exposure with both. She loves to play with all sorts of toys and really likes to play with the many stuffies she has. She’ll run around and play and then just walk over to her dog bed and crash for a nap and sometimes she’s been spotted snuggling up to the kittens in her dog bed too.
CRANBERRY would love a family who’s active and will take her on the walks she loves and even get her out on the hiking trails. She travels well in a vehicle and she’s always up and ready to be taken on an adventure or two. She loves people and will follow her foster around wherever she goes so she’d love to have someone home with her for most of the day. She requires a fenced in yard to keep her safe and children should be 6 plus and be loving, caring and gentle with animals. It should be noted that just because she’s small now it’s no guarantee that she’ll be a small breed dog and the expectation on her growth should be for a medium sized dog of around 45-50lbs.
Puppies are fun, cute and playful but they also require a lot of work and dedication to training. We need her adopter to be committed to signing her up for obedience/puppy training in order to adopt her.
Her spay is included in her adoption fee and has to be performed by the time she’s 6 months of age and we need her adopter to also be in agreement with that in order to adopt her. The adopter can opt to get her spayed at their own vet and we’ll reimburse what we would’ve paid for it to be performed at the SPCA. In order for that to happen though the same age for the spay applies.
If you would like to meet CRANBERRY then please submit an adoption application to do so.

Additional adoption info

Dogs: $750 (as of March 2024)
Cats: $250
The adoption process involves a brief application for the pet you are interested in. We will review your application and if you appear to be a good match for the pet, we will contact you for a phone interview. If that is successful we then do a vet reference check. If all goes well we will then set up a meet and greet for you and anyone else living in the home including any resident dogs with the pet. We then ask you to go home and contemplate your decision on adopting the pet and let us know your decision within 24hrs of meeting the pet. If applicable we will then move forward with the adoption at a mutually agreed upon time.

Go meet their pets

We only set up meet and greets with our animals once an adoption application has been submitted. We do occasionally have meet and greets with our animals at Global Pet Foods in the Barrie area.

You can check out the available pets on our rescuegroups website or on our rescue Facebook page.

More about this rescue

We’re a small rescue with a big mission to save animals in our Northern communities, local Pounds and owner surrenders (under certain circumstances.) We’re located in Barrie, Ontario and we serve the area of Simcoe County and within a two hour radius of the Barrie area.
Our intakes are placed in loving foster homes until they’re assessed, vetted including vaccines, microchip and a spay/neuter (if over 6 months of age) before they leave the rescue to be adopted. Female puppies are spayed at 6 months of age and males 8 months of age.)
We’re always looking for additional foster homes as we can only do intakes if we have foster homes for them to go into.
