My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Lucy!

This gentle soul is looking for a quieter forever home where she can flourish with patience and understanding humans. Though initially timid with new people, this sweet girl blossoms beautifully when given time to build trust. She's an excellent listener who responds exceptionally well to soft voices and gentle guidance.

Personality:
Completely house-trained
Loves sleeping in bed with her person
Thrives in a peaceful, low-key environment
Has excellent energy balance - enjoys running for exercise but also settles well
Loves being in the car and car rides

Social Skills:
Gets along wonderfully with other animals
Successfully been around cats, dogs, goats, and even chickens
Would do best in a home without children to maintain her needed calm environment

Lucy came to us several months ago with a group of Standard Poodle moms surrendered by a breeder. She's 7.5 years old and around 45-50lbs. She has struggled with chronic dry eye and needs twice a day eye cleanings, an inexpensive ointment and regular ear cleanings. She is spayed, has had a dental cleaning, vaccinated, microchipped and heartworm negative. She is in New Port Richey and her adoption fee is $300.

More about this rescue

We are a non-breed specific dog rescue group, although we do tend to take in mostly large and extra-large breeds, and especially those in the hunting / sporting groups.

Love for Paws exists to protect and advocate for dogs in our community through responsible adoption, the donation of supplies and veterinary care to those in need, by assisting in the effort to limit the overpopulation of these animals and by promoting kindness and healthy opportunity for life.
