My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello, I'm Shelley. I'm a bit of a character, you see. My days are filled with curiosity, exploring every nook and cranny of my surroundings. I'm smart too, quickly figuring out how to open doors and boxes. I can be independent, enjoying my alone time, but I also have a funny side. I'll make you laugh with my antics, like chasing my own tail or suddenly jumping at shadows. Adopting me won't just bring a pet into your home, it'll bring joy, laughter, and a whole lot of love. I'm not just a cat, I'm Shelley, and I can't wait to be a part of your life.

More about this shelter

Founded in 1971 as the Animal Aid Society of Englewood, Suncoast Humane Society began with a few cages where people left stray animals to be cared for. Over the years, our service area has grown to include over 400 square miles, covering three counties: Sarasota, Charlotte and portions of Lee.
Suncoast Humane Society provides a safe refuge for thousands of lost, abandoned and abused animals from our service area each year. We are committed to our open-door policy of never turning any animal away, regardless of health, temperament, breed or circumstances.
