ZORCON ACCT-A-178609 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to length of stay and lack of space for incoming dogs. Zorcon must have confirmed placement with an ADOPTER, FOSTER or RESCUE PARTNER by WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 6th at 10:00 a.m. Should Zorcon's medical or behavioral status change, his urgency and timeline for placement may also change.
Zorcon is a young adult, male, mixed breed dog who was brought to ACCT as a stray. During his stay here, he has been an absolute star-a happy pup who loves people and loves to play! Unfortunately, weeks have passed while Zorcon has been passed over again and again. We can't understand why he hasn't found his forever home yet, but he urgently needs to leave the shelter so that he can receive the lifetime of playtime, training, and love that he deserves!
While we don't know his history before coming to ACCT, Zorcon has had good dog meets in the shelter. He has shown that he is quick to learn, wants to please and loves, loves, LOVES time outside with his human friends. Zorcon is ready to be a loyal, loving companion for years to come for anyone lucky enough to take him home!

Behavioral:
Per volunteer 10/29: Very excited and jumpy when trying to get out of the kennel (hadn't been out in 3 days so maybe that was part of it). Friendly boy that did a lot of sniffing. Pulled on leash at times, like when he saw a cat, but otherwise he was pretty easy to handle.
Per Day Trip 10/21/24: Zorcon is an absolute doll!
1. Big puppy energy, with lots of wiggles, leaping and jumping, got him tangled up in his leash a few times but he is very treat/food motivated will be easy to train with a patient and gentle parent. He might do well with a runner or avid walker/hiker to expend some energy.
2.He soaked up my affections willingly and leaned in for snuggles. Enjoyed pets, back scratches and light massage in his face, ears, back, and legs. He is missing one toe on his back right foot so that might be a sensitive spot.
3. He was curious and alert. We walked on a wide path with several cyclists, families and a few dogs passing by. He occasionally pulled in their direction to sniff, but always wagged his tail and never barked, lunged or snapped. He allowed me to easily hold his harness and sat near me until everyone passed. He stopped to sniff for other animal scents in the leaves too. He gave one growl when a tall man walked toward us with a bike and wearing a helmet. He may have been startled by him coming around a corner.
4. He likely had some training in his previous home. He responded to kiss sounds and whistles. With treats he quickly learned "yes reinforcements to sit patiently, lay down, and "off when jumping up for attention. He was engaged with plush and durable rope toys and balls., throwing them in the air and chewing for the squeak. He was mouthy with my hands when I picked up the toys up to throw them but NO growling or aggression. Puppy play. When I got on the floor with him he wanted to sit on my lap and wrestle, taking my hands and arms in his mouth but he responded appropriately and stopped when I said "no and got up off the floor. He looked to me for reassurance and connection often. He gave a couple of sweet whines when needing to be let out of the car and apartment to pee/poo. Most of the time he was happy to be right by my side. Would do well with supervised free play in a fenced yard. He seemed reluctant to jump up in the sofa, even with my encouragement but happily on the bed.
Overall a very sweet and playful young dog, easy to train.
Per volunteer 10/19/24: I took Zorcon out for some play time. This handsome, energetic boy was easy to leash and take out to the yard. He has a lot of energy and loved chasing the ball that I threw to him. He sat nicely for pictures when he saw my phone! With some practice, he would be a great workout buddy for walks and runs. He was very sweet and was not grabby with the treats that I gave him. Although he wanted to stay outside, he was still cooperative in leaving the yard and going back to his kennel. He is a great size and would be a welcome addition to any home. Come and meet handsome Zorcon today!

Zorcon came into the eval room with a wagging tail and tons of puppy energy. He loves to jump up and play and ran cute zoomies around the room. He allowed all handling and loved treats. Zorcon knows how to sit and takes treats very nicely and walked very well on leash. I took him outside as his eval was very easy and quick and he met a dog and was very gentle while the other dog was very nervous. He is a sweet puppy with bursts of love and energy.
