Meet Taffi!
This adorable sweetheart was adopted from ARWOB as a young adult back in 2015 and sadly we were contacted in Septer 2024 her family needed to relinquish her back. She was adopted by a senior couple. Sadly her dad passed away last year and her mom just recently went into assisted living. Although they chose one that accepts dogs it became clear the situation was not conducive for both owner and Taffi. It was too hard for her owner to take her outside to potty. Unfortunately, her family was not able to help by keeping Taffi and contacted ARWOB to plan for her return.
We accepted Taffi and realized she was pretty overweight and in desperate need for a dental.
Taffi now had a dental with 9 extractions and doing great. She also had urinary incontinence and the biggest reason they relinquished her. However, As soon as we had blood work done the day of the dental and saw she had good values we placed her on PPA (a pill that needs to be given twice a day) and she has had zero accidents while she sleeps in her dog bed ei no more leaking.
Dental, blood work, meds and done she is a happy girl.
They mentioned she had trouble with stairs, we have not had that at all. She goes up and down without problem, she is also on cosenquin, a pill (supplement) given once a day to help with joint mobility. She does have some hearing and visual loss. So she needs a night light! ha!
Taffi is a sweet dog who is great with dogs and cats. She is loving to humans. She will not hesitate to try to bite when she is startled by grabing her by the collar ei when she is dosing off or waking her up, so we are looking for an adopter who is seeking to adopt a senior dog to live her golden years in peace napping and enjoying some delicious meals. She has a great appetite. She came in weighing 35 pounds but thankfully she has now lost 5 pounds. She does have a couple of lipomas around her body which is to be expected. She does require grooming but her coat is not too long, more like a cockerspaniel coat length. Its beneficial to have the 'hair bangs' cut short to help with her vision.
Too active dogs that have no boundries like the typical pups/teens are not the best match because she doesn't love dogs in her mouth (probably because she had dental disease) normal dogs with who give her space are great for her to be matched. She is great with cats. She is house and crate trained without a single problem. She enjoys car rides and jumps into the car well, she also still loves to have her leash on to go for walks. She can tend to wonder off and walk and walk and walk in the yard when she is new to the location but once she feels comfortable and learns her surroundings she will walk around for a bit around yard and then lay on her bed to take LONG naps. She is not a vocal dog at all, we have yet to hear her bark.
