My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hank was rescued as a stray in Crystal Lake, IL by Dumped Bunny Group on Oct 9 2024.
He is a beautiful, mild-mannered rex who is at least a few years old. He has evidence of some trauma to his feet and legs that looks like it was caused by over-long nails on his rear feet getting caught on something. He is missing a nail on each rear foot. The vet assessed his legs at his exam and he has full range of motion, just might be recovering from some past trauma. (aren't we all?) At this time he needs no meds or special treatment for this condition, just monitoring his mobility and gentle, minimal handling.
Hank will be neutered mid-november 2024 and should become adoptable after that!https://www.lostwoodsas.com/adoption-application

Go meet their pets

We are currently open by appointment only to see all the pets, but we frequently appear at farmer's markets and other local events with adoptable animals.

More about this shelter

We are a specialty rescue for small exotic pets, such as reptiles and small mammals. We were formed by two women who met working at a nature center. In their interactions with the public they noticed a need in the area for a rescue that specialized in exotic pets, as well as a value in public education. Lost Woods Animal Sanctuary was formed with the mission to reduce mistreatment and abandonment of animals through rescue and rehoming, as well as educational outreach.
