My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Winston! This gorgeous young boy was living on the streets when his world was turned completely upside down. He had been found limping, suspected to be hit by a car and was brought to a local hospital by a Good Samaritan. When we heard his story we immediately mobilized to get him seen by our vets and found that he had fractured his left leg, which ultimately required amputation. Now that he's all healed up from surgery, he's doing great and ready for a new start!

Winston currently lives in a free-roam room with several other kitties. When he's not running around and playing with his kitten roommates, he spends his time napping in his comfy cat bed or up on a cat tree! He is such a gentle soul and is amazing with children & other animals and absolutely loves to meet new people. Winston's a big boy at 10 months old but a total kitten at heart and is such a charmer. If you're ready to open your home to the coolest little tripod, he's waiting to meet you!

More about this shelter

Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge, Inc. is founded on the belief that all animals have a natural right to humane treatment including proper care and safe shelter. Due to overpopulation, there are insufficient homes for most cats and dogs. Some are lucky enough to find temporary shelter and a few even find permanent homes. However it is a devastating fact that the majority are either euthanized or forced to chance life without shelter.

To support our belief and to relieve the unnecessary suffering of animals, we shall:
1.Extend every effort to find, evaluate, and secure good adoptive homes for animals in our care.
2.Provide animals with medical services and behavior therapy to the extent of our ability.
3.Adhere to a “no-kill” policy: animals shall not be euthanized for the purpose of providing space for new animals.
4.Adhere to a 100% spay and neuter policy.
5.Maintain continuing humane education programs and in particular to schools.
