My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Zephyr was brought in by our Humane Law Enforcement team on October 15, 2024.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Zephyr! Zephyr arrived with several of his cat friends and is required to have another cat-social feline in his new home. He's a bit of a shy guy who needs a gentle touch and a safe space to adjust at his own pace. Zephyr firmly believes that all good things come with patience, positive vibes, and a sprinkle of treats. He's not a fan of force handling-he's more into the art of coaxing with toys and tasty morsels. Zephyr dreams of a quiet home without children or dogs, where he can soak up the sun and plot his next adventure (or nap). Remember, the journey to his new home is a big deal, so don't forget to bring a cat carrier-safety first!

Shy/Fearful Cat: Zephyr requires a virtual behavior consult, please watch THIS video to learn more about them.

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
