My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Krishna is an extra large puppy with an extra large heart to match! Krishna came to the SPCA when his previous guardians realized that they didn't have the resources that they needed to give him the care that he deserves. While he might be the size of a fully-grown dog at 60lbs, this 5-month-old still has quite a bit of growing to go! Krishna is a happy and outgoing puppy who loves to meet new people. He is working hard on his manners, and is learning not to jump up at people to say hello. When it's snuggling time, Krishna does a fantastic impression of a lap dog and will sit right down on top of you. Krishna is highly food motivated, so training is going great with this smart boy.

Krishna would be most successful in a detached home or larger apartment, just so long as he is getting adequate exercise and stimulation. He has been exhibiting some separation anxiety while in shelter, so his future family will need to work with him on building his confidence with bring left alone. He is eager to meet other dogs, and might do well with a confident canine companion to teach him how to be the best boy he can be. This big goofball is definitely a fantastic dog in the making, who just needs some guidance and love from a dedicated forever family to reach his full potential!d

Please come into the shelter during visiting hours if you would like to meet me. You can also submit an application online if I am in foster or you would like to save some time when you come visit. While we do welcome online applications, in person meets have top priority.

More about this shelter

Our Mission:

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its 36 branches located around BC and its provincial office in Vancouver, the BC SPCA provides a wide range of services for more than 53,000 homeless, abused, and abandoned animals around the province. The BC SPCA was created under the auspices of the provincial Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, and is the only animal welfare organization in BC which has the authority to enforce laws relating to animal cruelty and to prepare cases for Crown Counsel for the prosecution of individuals who inflict suffering on animals.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
