My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

If you're looking for a little dog with a big personality, Bast, a possible Italian Greyhound mix, could be your perfect match! At 2 years old, this adorable pup may be small in size, but he's big on love once he trusts you. Bast came to us from a hoarding situation, so he’s had a tough start in life, but with patience and kindness, he’s blossomed into a sweet and cuddly companion.

Bast is crate trained, and house trained, and he loves his crate – it’s his safe space where he can relax and recharge. He’s a quiet, independent little guy who enjoys a good cuddle, but he’s also content to entertain himself in his crate for hours when he needs a break. While he’s still nervous in new situations, once Bast gets to know and trust you, he’ll be your loyal lapdog, always ready for snuggles and affection. Due to his shy personality and needing above average time to get comfortable with new people, Bast does require a fenced in yard and would not be a candidate for apartment type living

Bast thrives in a calm, stable environment with another dog to show him the ropes and help him feel safe. He does best in a home with a fenced-in yard, as he needs a secure place to run and play. He’s athletic and active for his size and would make a great running or hiking companion for someone who enjoys outdoor adventures.

While Bast is great with the larger dogs in his foster home, he’s not comfortable with young children (under 14) and would prefer a quieter household where he can feel secure. He hasn't been around cats yet, but we suspect he would do fine with them.

Bast will take some extra time to warm up to new people, but once you’ve earned his trust, he’ll shower you with love and devotion. If you’re looking for a sweet, little dog who is both independent and affectionate, Bast could be the perfect fit for your home!

If you are interested in adopting Bast, please submit an inquiry directly to Greater Charlotte SPCA by visiting charlottespca.org/adopt. The adoption amount is a suggested donation of $200 to $300 dollars based on the pet's age.

**Because our rescue is composed entirely of volunteers, local applications will take precedence. We will accept out of town applications, but any family is responsible for coming to Charlotte to complete a meet and greet. All out of town applicants will also have to be willing to drive to Charlotte to pick up the pet as soon as they are approved to adopt. **
