Rusty is a 5-year-old neutered male who came to us as an owner surrender, Rusty was loved very much by his former family, and it’s been hard on both parties. Rusty is standoffish with new people and would prefer a quiet home without children. He would benefit from socialization and basic obedience to build confidence and improve his leash skills.. When he meets new people he will bark and avoid in typical shar pei style. He does warm up to women faster than men and after a few weeks with his foster family he has really bonded with both his foster mom and dad.
He is fostered with 3 other dogs and is doing great! He does not seem interested in playing with them but does enjoy their company. He is house broken and figured out how to go out the dog door quickly . His foster mom kennels him when he is home alone to help him have a safe spay and he does great in the kennel, but he has been pretty trustworthy in the house.
We would love to find a home who will give Rusty the time to settle in and become the best friend we see!
Rusty is currently about 75lbs but is working his weight loss plan and will soon be to his goal weight of 65lbs
