Greta von Gramzow is a gorgeous 3 month old sable German Shepherd puppy. Her date of birth is 7/8/24. We are told the father was from Czech lines; his owner must have paid a lot of money for him. Mom is a gorgeous, classic, black and tan German Shepherd. A real estate agent was in their area and heard that the owners no longer wanted Greta and her sister Gretchen. We were contacted and they are now safely under our care. We made sure the owners had the mom spayed to avoid any future "accidental" litters. The puppies are pure and are already on the larger side for their ages. Their pictures were taken right after they arrived at the rescue while they were quite terrified not knowing what was going on. Luckily, a wonderful foster took them both home, so they can relax in a home environment together. They have been very sweet and gentle puppies so far.

Based on our experience, Westside's current thinking is to usually match first-time shepherd owners with a mix versus a purebred shepherd. Mixes are "softer" and somewhat more malleable. Exceptions can be made, however, for first-time adopters who show the confidence and leadership tendencies that purebreds will respect and respond to. Counselors have to use good judgment in assessing the attributes of the adopter, as well as of the dog. If you have doubts, get a second opinion from Robin or another experienced counselor.

Upon receipt of your application, a Westside adoption counselor will contact you.We do aerial home checks and you may be asked to supply pictures as well as arranging for a home visit prior to adoption.
Adoption fees vary with each dog and typically range from $150 to $500. They are set, taking into account the dog's age, training level, temperament, if they’re newly arrived, medical condition(s) (if any) and other factors. Adoption fees are used not only to rescue and place the dog you are personally adopting, but to aid in the future rescue and rehabilitation of other deserving dogs. Adoption fees are necessary; without fees, our rescue efforts would quickly come to an end. The adoption fee includes spay/neuter, microchip, and up-to-date vaccinations.

If you have submitted an online application but have not been approved by our volunteer, please do NOT come down to meet dogs as we won't be able to show you any. No on-site screening at this time. Once approved and told to come meet dogs, we will be happy to help you.
