Meet Leo, a 4 year old male Box/Pit Bull mix that weighs 75 lbs and the newest member of the Protector of Animals family.
Unfortunately, Leo came to us because his owner passed away. We are hoping to find a new family for him that will give him all of the attention and love he deserves.
He has medium level energy. He enjoys walking and was interested in playing with some of the other dogs at the shelter. He could possibly go to a home with a cat too.
Butt scratches and squeaky toys will give him zoomies. He adores belly rubs and does well in the car.
If you think Leo is the perfect dog for you, fill out an application. He is neutered and vaccinated and available to adopters in Connecticut only. If you have any questions you can contact his adoption counselor at Sam.reyes@poainc.org.

We do have a screening and application process. Protectors of Animals requires a veterinarian check before any adoption.
One of our experienced Placement Team members will meet with you and show you the cat, kitten or dog you are interested in, or will guide you towards cats, kittens or dogs that are appropriate for your home environment. We will discuss with you the background of the cat, kitten or dog and what special needs or requirements he or she may have. We will happily take the time to carefully answer any questions you have or discuss any concerns.
POA does not charge an adoption “fee.” It costs POA anywhere from $100 and $400, or more, per dog or cat or kitten to make them well and prepare them for adoption. We are an all-donation organization and we rely on adoption donations to help us continue our work. When you adopt a cat or dog, we will ask for a donation. Our adoption donation information can be found at our website at www.poainc.org.

More about this rescue
We are a NO-Kill rescue and shelter for cats and dogs.
POA was formed in 1975 to rescue abandoned, abused and stray cats and dogs. Today we are one of the oldest and most respected animal welfare organizations in the northeast. POA is here to stay! You will not find a more dedicated, experienced or thorough resource for improving the lives of Connecticut cats and dogs. We confine our focus to our home state because this is where our infrastructure and resources reside, as well as our leadership.
