My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! I'm Dixie. I’m a little (39-40 lbs), cream horsecoat Shar-Pei. Foster Mommy says that I am sweet as can be! I love laying in my Foster Mommy’s lap and like to sleep on the bed at night. I do well in the house..no accidents and am very good about going in my crate. I am doing ok on a leash but still need more work on that. I am a bit excitable, so we think a home with older children (12 & up) would be best so that I don’t knock any little kids over. I do need a home with a fenced yard. I don’t try to climb or jump over fences, but I will check to see if I can get under.

I get along with the other dogs at my foster home and want to play with them, but they don’t really want to play with me.

When I came to Rescue, my skin and ears were in such horrible condition that I had almost no hair left. Foster Mommy and my veterinarian have been working hard and my skin has improved tremendously. My skin is still dark on my back end, but I am no longer itchy and am quite comfortable. I recently had entropion surgery to correct my eye issues. I was also spayed.

Now that I have had my entropion and spay surgeries, I am looking for my perfect “furever” home. If you think I’m just the perfect little girl for you, please fill out an application and ask for Dixie!
