My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

***MY ADOPTION FEE IS WAIVED December 16th- December 29th!***
`I`m enjoying a staycation with a Woofderful volunteer! Contact the adoption center to schedule a meet!`

Hi, my name is Taz! I am currently thriving in foster care with my foster mom and dad, and Max the cat. My foster parents say that I`m an easy, laid-back pup who loves affection, toys, chasing balls , playing tug, and going on walks around the neighborhood. I am potty trained, love to snuggle (belly rubs please!), and give the best kisses. I can be left at home alone and don`t mind it. I do bark when the Amazon guy drops off packages, or the neighbors walk by with their dogs. I know basic commands and recently learned `drop` and `stay.` My foster parents say they love me so much and that my future adopter will the the luckiest person!

From: Owner/Guardian Surrender
Management Level: High: affectionate and playful, scared of children and fireworks, has had basic training.
Dog Compatibility: I seem to like other dogs, so let`s meet! Can sometimes be a bit intense with certain dogs.
Cat Compatibility: I am compatible with cats; slow introductions recommended; food guards with cats requiring management.
Child Compatibility: Ask about previous history; I can meet kids 15+.
Housing Restrictions: Securely fenced yard required.

Their adoption process

Go meet their pets

We have events througout the year to highlight our adoptable animals. One favorite event each year is our local public swimming pool closes to the public in the fall and the very last day the pool is open only to dogs in the community. Shelter dogs play, splash and mingle with public dogs in two pools and cool off for the final hot days of the summer.

We post our events on our website and Facebook and through other various media outlets.

More about this rescue

The mission of the SPCANN is to be an innovative regional leader in responsible treatment of homeless cats and dogs, primarily through their rescue and placement in forever loving homes, and by promoting spaying and neutering to control pet overpopulation. We accomplish our mission with dedication to our core values and a lifetime commitment to our animals.

We are Reno's first no-kill animal shelter, founded in 1998. Each year our shelter develops more progressive programs such as our Rural Rescue Program where we aggressively rescue animals from rural animal control agencies and support their joint efforts to move animals out of their facilities and into ours to avoid euthanasia. We also have expanded our reach into schools with our Humane Initiative Program where we teach and show compassion to animals. We have more programs and many projects on the horizon - visit our website to see more!!!
