Hi, I'm Mozza - short for Mozzarella! I hope you like cheese, because I sure do!
They say age is just a number, but I believe I am the perfect age. I don't have puppy energy anymore, but I still thrive on walks and would love exploring nature with you. I’m a laid back girl but I surprisingly ended up at death's door in a high-kill California shelter. Thankfully I was rescued and now I'm happy to spend my days snuggling with my foster mom.
Whether you're a night owl or love sleeping in, I’ll happily let you snooze away and calmly hang out while you work through the day. At home, I’m really a no-fuss girl, you’ll see. I adapt to your lifestyle- while I love to take it easy and chew on my bones between naps, I also appreciate walks and sniffing new scents outdoors. I'm friendly, affectionate, and loyal to my humans above all. I’m a simple gal, happy to just be near you after a nice meal or a good walk.
My golden-amber eyes have a way of drawing humans in with warmth and kindness. In addition to being motivated by belly rubs and affection, I'm very interested in treats (did anyone say CHEESE?) and will convince you to give me a few extra with my dazzling charm - with one ear up, I'm hard to turn down! Treats (especially CHEESE) will also help me learn more commands other than ‘sit’ and ‘stay’ which I already know.
I have medium energy levels, but again - will adapt to you. On my walks, I’m not scared of cars, trucks, or loud noises, and I love meeting people, young and old. I do get a little over-excited about meeting other dogs, and I might pull a bit to say hello. But don’t worry, I’m learning to tone it down with training classes that my foster mom takes me to. I would be OK with 1 other medium sized calm dog in an home environment, though I can be a little assertive and over-excited, so my interactions still need to be supervised. I am still learning about boundaries and how to rest and be calm around other dogs. I'm a little unsure about cats, so would probably be best aligned in a home with loving humans and no other pets, or with one, calm submissive dog-friend as mentioned. Anyway, back to humans. I love humans. When I meet new people, I’m all about affection—I’m a social butterfly who loves to give and receive attention, no matter who you are. I’m gentle and friendly with all of the human species.
I’m fully house-trained, so no accidents from me, as long as you take me out, of course. I'm slowly being crate trained and adapting well. I love my human friends so much and prefer when they're home, but am adjusting to being by myself will settle down after a bit. Generally I’m not destructive, and I don’t bark excessively. I’ll give you all the kisses and cuddles you want, but I’m also independent enough to let you have your space.
Car rides? I love them! No anxiety here. Grooming? I’m a star—nail clipping, baths, and paw cleaning don’t faze me much. I am low maintenance and will thrive in any place that is safe, happy, and loving
.
Whether you’re looking for an adventurous companion for hikes or a cuddle buddy for quiet nights, I’m your girl. I’m low-maintenance and can thrive in just about any home, whether it’s an apartment, a house with a yard, or a cozy country spot with plenty of space - as long as you give me love, I'm set! I’m ready to start the next chapter of my life with my forever family. Will that be you? I can’t wait to meet you!
*Side note from ACZ founder - We do not understand how such well-tempered dogs like Mozza end up at the dog pound. There are so many dogs like her at shelters in California. The state is going through a crisis, where adoptable dogs are being put down daily. Please adopt a shelter dog today and save their life [literally...]
