My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We all know how we get that awww feeling when we see an adorable puppy that needs our help. Popcorn was one of these dogs that deserves, due to his excellent temperament and all the love he'll bring to a family, to have a wonderful home filled with pure love and nurturing.

Popcorn is the kind of dog who, once comfortable in his environment, snuggles in close, loves you up and then puts his head on your shoulder breathing his warm breath. He's so sweet (while being initially a bit shy) and so very loving and irresistible that you can't help falling head over heels in love.

Popcorn is a cute as can be 12 week old, 6 lb Maltese / West Highland White Terrier mix that is nothing but pure love. This pup is SO sweet and once acclimated to his new life, will be a friendly and engaging pup giving 100% of his heart to his new family.

Popcorn is a perfect size and weight to be able to accompany his favorite people everywhere a wonderful smaller dog is welcome. He will fit right into virtually every situation due to her great temperament and love of life. Our dream for this very loving dog is a forever Colorado home with a family that cherishes him for life.

As Popcorn becomes more and more comfortable in his forever home, he will blossom and become a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please. The happier his family is with his behavior, the more this sweetie pie will shine with his accomplishments.

Farfel's would like to see Popcorn in a home that includes him in family time and activities (and some lap or couch-time with belly rubs would be perfect!) as well as taking that extra step to participate in positive reinforcement / force free virtual or in-person obedience classes. These classes successfully teach a very smart and cooperative dog like Popcorn the skills to accompany his family out into the world with excellent behavior. Farfel's Rescue is happy to provide a list of approved virtual and in-person force-free trainers in your area.

Popcorn would be a devoted companion for active retirees who have the time and desire to be best friends with a silly, fun-loving and irresistible young pup. This social guy would love to have another gentle and fun dog to play with as well as family members who would enjoy interacting in fun activities.

Popcorn is so much fun to watch as he puts his positive energy into enjoying the day with his beloved foster family. This little guy would do very well with a young family that works from a home-based office. He would bask in the attention and cuddles periodically throughout the day that this life-style offers.

Popcorn appears to be (although we can't swear to it..this information is as per Arkansas vets) a non-shedding puppy with the scruffy hair that works so well for those with allergy concerns. Due to this, Popcorn will require a lifelong commitment to periodic grooming (approximately every 8 - 10 weeks) and great nutrition (5 star food and a daily salmon oil supplement are excellent protocols for longevity and coat care) to keep Popcorn's hair super- healthy, cottony-soft and matte-free.

Phoenix is up to date on his vetting / vaccinations (found to be a healthy and well-adjusted puppy) to be in line with our commitment to only adopting out healthy dogs. Extensive new research indicates that Phoenix is far too young to be neutered at this time. When this little guy is approximately 12 months old, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Phoenix's microchip and neuter if one of our rescue vets is used.

Phoenix will be arriving on transport in Denver on Wednesday 10/30/2024. Applications are currently being accepted for this very loving best friend and can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-res. cue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out completely and submit.

**PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Popcorn please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in most cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial.

An Adoption Application and an Adoption Contract must be completed before any dog can begin their one week foster. Our average adoption fee is $695. This amount serves to cover vetting, spay/neuter, all vaccinations, temperament testing, transport, a microchip, harness, food, and treats.
Our dogs come from Texas, Kansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma and rural Colorado.

Adoption application

Go meet their pets

Pets are transported from the southern states every week. Almost 100% of the time, the dogs are spoken for as a result of adoption applications that can be referenced under Adoption at farfelsrescue.com. We study the applications. If the app indicates there is a match, followed up by a home visit and reference checks, the process moves to the next step. The adopter is committing to a one week foster (of course the dog can be returned at any time prior), and can then choose to finalize the adoption.

More about this rescue

We own a pet boutique named Farfel's Farm & Rescue on Pearl Street in Boulder, Colorado. We have had the good fortune to find our niche in the Boulder community and experience success. We felt it very important to "pay it forward" in gratitude. We couldn't think of a better endeavor than to save dogs who were out of time in the southern states, yet had been identified with great temperaments. We dedicate our efforts to their good health and ultimate wonderful, permanent homes.
