My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Shamus is a mellow and relaxed best friend type, waiting to meet his forever family. He’s dog-friendly, cat-tolerant, great with kids and so affectionate. Shamus has a smile that could light up any room, and a heart of gold!

Shamus is estimated to be around 8 years old, he’s a well-established good boy that knows what he likes- belly rubs and treats, of course! We think Shamus is a Shepherd mix of some sort, but he is a rescue, so this is just our best guess! Shamus currently weighs in at 43 pounds, he mostly made of fluff and sweetness.

Fall in love with Shamus here: https://youtu.be/Ky10clq9CkA?si=K5b1YFVqxvvuf_hL

With other dogs, Shamus is a total sweetheart. He’s tolerant of even the pushiest and most energetic dogs here at the rescue. He’s small dog friendly and a gentle player. We think Shamus would do best in a home with a doggy sibling, preferably a mellow, established pup like himself.

Shamus is a perfect gentleman with every human he meets, he’s wonderful with kids and great on leash. He’s easy in the car as well! Shamus would love to be your little adventure buddy, accompanying you to events and restaurants. Take him out to dinner and watch him make all the new friends! Shamus absolutely loves to be outdoors too, he wouldn’t mind a park day or two! Shamus’s foster mom says “long walks are the key to his heart.”

Shamus is cat-tolerant! He lives in a home with two kitties and does well with them. Shamus has been cat tested here at the rescue, watch his most recent cat test in his video!

Shamus’s perfect home would have another dog to keep him company, at least one loving human to provide belly rubs, snuggles and milkbones, and a comfy couch to lounge on. We think Shamus would do well in a home with children, or in an apartment. Shamus’s foster mom brags that he’s crate and potty trained, and knows a few basic commands already. Shamus is ready for his forever family, and knowing him it will be love at first sight when you finally meet! He would be a great fit for a homebody, a retiree, or just about anyone that wants the calm and cozy moments that come with doggy companionship, without all of the chaos that younger, more energetic dogs can bring. We are willing to test Shamus with anything you may need to ensure that he is a perfect fit for your family, home and life. We can make most anything happen. Just let us know!

https://g.co/kgs/UQ5Pyai We care deeply about making the perfect match between dog and family for long term success.
Our rescue has a 2 acre property in Texas where we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group trainings and socialization play groups to keep dogs adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers support the positive growth of our dogs and we enjoy seeing their progress!
Our commitment to comprehensive medical care sets us apart. We've received glowing feedback from veterinarians who commend our dedication to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal in our care with treatments that often go above and beyond.
Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.
The rescue’s hard costs alone for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,120. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that Three Little Pitties Rescue is not government funded.
It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these SPECIAL PERKS:
● Extensive behavioral testing and information from trainers on our staff to ensure the perfect fit for your family
● Discounts on Embark DNA test kit- $30 off of Breed ID test & $50 off of Breed ID plus Health test

Did you know that the Greater Houston area faces some of the highest stray and overpopulation rates in the nation? We are a non profit charity. Our goal is simple— to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and by rescuing animals from the streets or overcrowded shelters where euthanasia due to lack of space is often the only option. The dog you've found online is not only lucky to be in our program, but also incredibly fortunate to have caught your eye. Thank you for considering adoption and for joining us in our mission!
Follow our rescue journey and connect with us on our website and social media platforms. Together, we can make a difference, one adoption at a time.
