My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Chewbacca was brought into our care by his previous owner on October 16, 2024.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Chewbacca, a loving dog who's ready to find his new family! This handsome boy has a positive history with kids, cats, and small dogs, making him a great fit for a variety of households. He's fully potty trained, crate trained, and loves car rides, making him a fantastic travel buddy. Chewbacca is also a star when it comes to commands-he knows sit, turn, come, and can even give high fives! Regular grooming will help keep his fluffy coat looking its best, though he can be a little sensitive when it comes to face trims. If you're looking for a well-rounded, friendly companion, Chewbacca is your guy!

At SDHS:
This pet has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed/neutered. This pet is now ready for their new home!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
