My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My history is a mystery and my friends here do not know much about me yet!

I have medical needs that staff will address with you when you meet me.

Marius tolerates attention and petting but appears fearful or stressed in the shelter. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. We recommend this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents. Due to the behavior shown, he may not be a great fit for young children. Any home with older children prepared to adopt this cat should conduct a thorough interaction and endeavor to monitor this cat around their children to prevent these behaviors from being reinforced.

A volunteer writes: I love Marius's inside voice, or at least his approximation of an inside voice. Sleeping in a camouflaged little crescent on a nest of blankets, Mario immediately stood up and began asking me all sorts of questions when I opened his condo door. He wasn't the least bit concerned about waking up his neighbors and wanted to talk about snacks. Snacks are his primary interest at the moment. Marius wasn't really one for pets from me, but, and I'm being a bit generous here, he was vaguely interested in watching me try to play with him. As I waved a pipe cleaner feather around, Marius tried to gather all of his interest and while he didn't get far in playtime, his cuteness is unparalleled. Marius was found lying outside and someone believed him to be hit by a car. He's making the best of the Care Center by taking long and leisurely naps, talking with everyone who walks by and, of course, snacks. Come to the Care Center, say hello and listen to Marius talk to you in his inside voice.
