My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Hatch Date: Approx 2019

Meet Ferb (blue w/ white chest), Phoebe (yellow w/ more green), Lola (yellow w/ light green back), Jerry (more all-over blue) and Butters (soft yellow w/ black stripes on wings).  This lovely group of budgies are about 5 years old and are a complete joy to be around.

They have not   been DNA sexed, but judging by cere color, they all look to be female, with the exception of Phoebe, who is a confirmed male with a bright blue cere.  No reported egg-laying or mating behavior, as no nesting material has ever been provided to them.

They all get along and commune very well in their beautiful flight cage. They love to join in conversation when given the opportunity.  Ferb is the friendliest of the group and will perch on your finger if you let her.  She is also the boss of the group, and the others in the flock often follow her when eating, preening, chilling out, etc...

They are all very mellow and quiet birds for the most part.  They love being wheeled outside onto the deck in the summertime for fresh air and sun.

They will bathe in a water bowl on the bottom of the cage when given the opportunity.  Lola and Ferb get along the best out of all of them, and do hang out together often.

This lovely group of budgies are very loved, however, they need to be re-homed as soon as possible.  Their family is willing to adopt them out separately if necessary, however, if they can all remain together, that would be the best-case scenario.

The flock has been disease tested for psittacosis and PBFD.

Ferb, Phoebe, Lola, Jerry and Butters are in Chester, NJ and are part of our Help With Rehoming Program.   We do not ship our adoptable birds.

For the Love of Birds is a network of dedicated foster homes throughout NJ and Eastern PA.  As our adoptable birds live in volunteer homes or their guardian's home, we only allow approved adopters to make the required visits.    If interested in adopting the budgies, please visit our website    ftlob.rescuegroups.org.

Please read our adoption policies, and fees and complete an adoption application.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

The adoption procedure begins with completing an adoption application and returning it to us. We will check your references and then call you for a telephone interview. While we check your references, we will ask that you review an educational power point presentation. After your application is approved, it is our policy that you visit with the bird(s) three times to have multiple interactions with them and give you time to consider the adoption and get ready for your new family member. There is an adoption fee for each bird.
