A note to those looking at CPR. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. Our job is to find those someone's. Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog. They come to us because they want to give a dog a home. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.

Reason for being in rescue: breeder release / puppy that did not sell
Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC
Special Needs? Salem is up to date on vaccines for her age. She was treated for hookworms when she arrived in rescue. Her new owners will need to do this at least once more and possibly twice.
Weight: 18 lbs and growing - We estimated Salem will be 50 lbs or more when full grown
Height: 15 in and growing - We estimated Salem will be est 24" when full grown
Spayed/Neutered: No, Salem is not spayed. She will be placed on a spay/neuter addendum that requires you to spay her within 9 months at your cost and provide proof of spay.
Adoption Fee: $599
Fence needed? Yes - Salem requires a physically fenced yard with fencing 4 feet or taller. Salem is going to be a large standard. If you do not have a fence, we need to know your plan for off leash exercise a minimum of 3 times per week for at least 1 hour each session. This is a minimum for a large and active standard poodle.
What kind of home would be best for me? Puppies are active, agile little babies, they need homes that are ready to tire them out both mentally and physically. What matters most to a puppy is a happy and excited owner ready to take on loving and training their new puppy! While our ideal home for puppies has another young dog in it, Salem could be adopted to a home where she is the only dog as long as there is a solid plan for regular socialization a minimum of 4 times per week.
Socialization occurs when dogs are off leash and free to be themselves, unencumbered by human restraints (other than the fence that keeps them safely contained). Socialization times would be for instance, inviting a neighbor or friend over with their dog to play in your fenced yard or going to someone else’s home to play in their fence yard. Socialization time could be doggy daycare. Socialization time could be a group walk if you include a playtime at the end of it. Training classes do not always include socialization time. Some puppy classes do include a period of time at the end where the dogs can romp and play together. This would be perfectly acceptable. Time can also take place inside the home, it does not have to be an outdoor area, as long as the dogs are free to interact with each other without leashes or other restraints.
What is my personality like? Independent, Spunky, Adorable. This curious little girl is ready to take on the world and explore all it has to offer, which is ironic because she is also the runt of the group! She has a spirited personality and is highly trainable. She is independent and fearless in all the best ways, but needs a family and human companions to help her reach her goals and live up to her full potential. Salem loves the company of other dogs, all sizes and breeds.
Salem is friendly and playful but is also quiet and calm at times. Her behavior and temperament is phenomenal with humans and other dogs. She loves to eat and is not picky about food whatsoever. She also adores toys and any type of treat. Salem would benefit most from a family who is looking to adopt. This sweet girl will love and appreciate any and all hands to love on her including children! She is catching on quickly to potty training and uses the bathroom outside when let out! She is very smart and will learn very quickly with the right training and support system. She is spoiled rotten and expects nothing less in her forever home!
How do I act when I first meet new people? Extremely friendly. Salem believes everyone she meets is a friend and playmate, while everyone's lap is there for her to crawl into for loving pets.
Other tips and tidbits: Salem was born on 05/03/24. She has a beautiful, natural tail!
House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.

Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you.
