Here's what the humans have to say about me:
The name Greta means Pearl. This girl is more like a diamond…in the rough (ruff?)
Yes, she’s a beautiful, petite 50-pound Doberman but she has some behavior issues.
Greta ended up in rescue after a fatal incident with a small dog in her home. Therefore, she will NOT be placed in a home with other small dogs, cats, or critters smaller than she is. This girl has what we call a HIGH PREY DRIVE. We will also require her new family to have a PHYSICALLY FENCED yard (that means no underground fencing).
She gets along great with dogs her size and energy level yet will escalate during play and may need timeouts to calm down. Previous Doberman experience is highly suggested for her adopter.
Additionally, Greta may exhibit the Pincsher part of being a Doberman Pinscher and may nip at strangers. She is also a counter surfer and jumper. Food is everything to Greta! Her food, your food, another dog’s food. It’s all supposed to be hers, she thinks. This cutie pie likes to greet you by jumping up on you. Greta would NOT do well in a home with young children because of this jumping and the likelihood of knocking over a little person. All these behaviors are being worked on and Greta will need an owner committed to continuing with obedience training and positive reinforcement.
Her exuberant personality and graceful stride would make Greta an excellent agility competitor. She has great recall and loves to run off-leash, when given the chance. Her current foster does 60-90 minutes of daily exercise with her to increase her stamina and help burn off her energy. Greta would greatly benefit if she is given a job to do!
Greta is crate trained and will come with her own impact crate. (She’s an escape artist). Housebreaking is an ongoing task and when crated, she scratches to let you know when it’s time to go out.
This soon-to-be 18 month old has a lot of affection to give. She wants to please but is at that terrible teenager stage and knows how to use her cuteness to make you give into her antics. There’s an award winning level snuggler and a great canine passenger inside that petite frame of hers. Knows basic commands and has the absolute cutest little Milk Dud eyes.
With dedication to help Greta to overcome her issues, she came become a precious gem, whether a polished pearl or a sparkly diamond.
