Bonded Pair!!!!
Dog Name: Shirley
Breed: Labrador Retriever
Sex: Female
Age: 8ish
Weight: 70 pounds
Medical Needs: Shirley is Heartworm positive. She has a mast cell tumor that she may need removed when she is cleared of HW. She has arthritis, but it is managed with twice daily Carprofen and she gets around well with no sign of discomfort. Shirley will need to be retested for HW in 2-3 months. Adopters must live within 1 hour of Milford and be willing to travel there for vet appts…or take over Shirley's medical at their own expense.
Housebroken: Yes
Crate trained: Yes
Good in the car: Yes
Good on a leash: Yes, I am able to easily walk Laverne & Shirley together without issues.
Energy level: Low
Need a fenced in yard: No. Both Shirley & Laverne stay close by when not leashed and have good recall.
Dog Friendly: Yes. Shirley & Laverne are wonderful with other dogs.
If yes, does your foster need another dog in its adoptive homes? She comes as a bonded pair with Laverne
Cat Friendly? She has not met my cats, but I cannot imagine there would be an issue.
Kid Friendly: Unknown
If yes, what's the youngest child you'd recommend they be placed with? She may be slightly fearful of fast moving, loud children. She would probably do better in a quiet home, but would be fine around children occasionally if the child is patient, gentle, and supervised.
Special traits that make your foster special or that we need to know about them? Shirley spent most of her life as a puppy mill breeding dog and then confined to a cage under deplorable conditions. She is shy and timid, but super sweet and as easy going as they come. She will take a little patience to warm up to you.
Fosters Location: Berlin, MD
