Take the Pet Home
This helps ShepHeroes with pet care costs.
Where are the shepherd folks who are looking for cat workable pups? Meet Monty, a super cute and happy 5-month-old German Shepherd puppy who will steal your heart! This agile, speedy little guy charmed the resident dog in his foster home and became her instant friend. She even shows him all the best lizard hangouts in the yard! Monty lives with three cats, a few birds, and a teenager in his foster home. He gets regular visits from the neighborhood toddler, showing us he's excellent with various companions.
Monty, a puppy who sleeps through the night in his crate and is already potty trained, is a bundle of love. When he's not zipping around the yard, he loves nothing more than snuggling up with his humans. Morning snuggles in bed and before bed on the couch are his special cuddle times. And if you work from home remotely, Monty will carve out a spot under your desk to slumber away until you're ready to pay attention to him.
Monty is amazing on walks around the neighborhood, walking next to his person as if he's always known to heel. Many times his foster mom drapes his leash on her shoulder on their walks, he stays that close. He's terrific on car rides once he's in the car, but likely, one of his rides in his prior life ended badly, and he's not willingly hopping in the car for rides yet. So his foster family takes him for many car rides to show Monty that he'll always have a great experience and always come back home. His playdate with Clem was one of those positive experiences of a good outcome car ride. These two pups had a blast zooming, resting, wrestling, and playing their mouthy games until both were down with their tongues hanging out right next to each other.
Monty's puppicinos, which he adores, are also part of the fun experiences of car rides. When his foster family is at work during office days, he hangs out in his crate with toys, listening to various Spotify channels on Alexa.
Monty's favorite among his toys is the long neon yellow and green snake with multiple squeakers; he loves to shake and squeak his snake so much that it's a blur to photograph. His playful nature will surely bring joy and entertainment to your home.
He's good on a leash and ready to participate actively, joining you on various outdoor adventures. Monty has done exceptionally well at a variety of outreach events he's attended and at our recent adoption booth at Roy Marcum Adoption Faire sponsored by the Bradshaw Shelter he was charming with all of his admirers and all the dogs in attendance at the 4 hour event. As with all young pups, he needs further environmental exposure, structure, and training to grow into a confident, neutral adult dog.
We ask adopters interested in Monty to have experience with shepherds or similar herding or working breeds and the time and resources to commit to lots of love, structure, environmental exposure, and training.
