Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Riff is a very mellow and cuddly boy. Doesn’t typically bark inside unless he sees someone outside. Bays when he catches an interesting scent. Very food motivated. Will give you all the paws you ask for when there’s a yummy treat. Won’t beg but will stare and pace. Does not like bananas. He needs a yard to run around in. I think he’d best suite an older individual or couple who will coddle him and enjoy going on trail walks periodically. He’s not much of a puller unless he finds a scent but he relaxes when told. Behavior wise he’s fine with other pets but he forgets his size with those smaller than him. He doesn’t play much unless you entice him and he starts warming up, which may take some time. Great for nails trims and baths. He has seasonal allergies that he gets periodic shots for. He used to be obese so we want to keep him in good shape. I give him 2 measured cups in the summer and 1 2/3 cups in the winter, depending on the food. He likes water mixed with his kibble and he sits and waits politely to be fed. He’ll come with his bed, clothes, dish, food recommendations, leashes, and the few toys he’s shown interest in. We love him very much, we hope you’ll love him too.

We are a local non-profit organization run and staffed by your neighbors. We make decisions on caring for homeless, unwanted, abandoned and abused domestic animals based on what we believe is best for them. We have no affiliation with any larger group and we receive no funding from any larger group that might influence our decisions or actions.
We advocate only for the animals in our care to help them find their forever home with you.
UPAWS does not receive operating funds from any governmental agency. We rely on donations from our neighbors and friends to make our efforts possible. We save consistently 98% of the animals who come to us – which is an award-winning success story. We want to educate everyone on proper animal care so there soon won’t be the three percent who come to us too sick or wounded to be saved. It’s your support that makes this dream possible.
