What is Rehome?
If you see pets listed by a private owner, it means that they’re adoptable through Adopt a Pet’s Rehome program – the safe and reliable way to find a loving new home for your pet.
Gus is a 4-year old purebread Mini Australian Shepherd. We are looking to rehome him because the combination of his fear-based reactivity and our now having young children (a 1-year old and 1 on the way) is no longer compatible. Gus has had behavioral issues as a puppy - he is reactive towards other dogs and should be kept at a distance. While OK with adults, he needs time to get familiar with new people and does best if allowed to go at his own pace. Treats help. Like all Aussies, Gus requires lots of mental and physical activity. Musts: home with a yard where he can run and play in a safe environment; an owner committed to continuing his behavioral training with a no-fear policy; no other pets or young children. Despite his behavioral issues, Gus is a truly wonderful dog. He is sweet and loving to those he trusts. He is playful, goofy, cuddly, and full of energy. Current medications: Gabapentin, Sertraline, and Clonidine.
