Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Fuji is a very sweet, playful girl who also loves attention, and is quick to purr. She’s low-medium energy so far when she winds up to play, maybe a little more as she grows.
Fuji is playful and starting to walk up to ask for pets and attention. We’re working on laps and she’s taking to them very well, especially when she is a little worn out. She’s a 50/50, likes attention or play both equally, anytime. She’s still getting used to being picked up and carried, but she stays a little longer each time we try. When she’s worn out, she’ll peep to be picked up or hug your calf for lap time. Lately, she’s really into sitting with you on the couch and dozes off while getting belly rubs.
She’s a big explorer, jumping to high shelves, nosing into closets, and constantly on the bathroom vanity w/ her sisters Gala and Honeycrisp. During the day she plays with toys- balls, mice, etc., but mostly chases/wrestles with her two sibs. She’s very gentle at hand-wrestling when you play with her on the couch and she’s starting to ask for attention more each day. She tends to take her naptime on the couch or up in the cat tree. She has a tiny peep-meow but doesn’t talk much other than a little at meal times or to give a soft squeak to say `hi` when you talk to her. At night, she spins up, chasing her sisters and then settles to sleep on a soft blanket on the bed and against your back or side through the night.
Fuji is perfect with the litter box and is good at letting you trim her front nails most anytime (and her backs when she’s snoozy). She might be a bit shy with new people, but warms up quickly with toys and pets. I think she’ll do fine with children once used to their energy. She met a small, energetic dog and just watched him from across the room. I think she could do ~OK with a cat friendly dog after slow introductions. I think she would do fine as a solo kitten with toys and plenty of attention. She would also pair very well with her sisters Gala (A914113) or Honeycrisp (A915114) or another cat friendly cat.

Our shelter has more than 500 available cats and dogs every day! For pets at the shelter: Adoptions must be completed in-person at the shelter. AAC is open for adoption walk-ins every day from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. A shelter pet’s availability can change at any time, so we recommend choosing a few favorites. For pets in foster: Go to www.AustinAnimalCenter.org to find the pet's profile and click that pet's pink “Adopt Me” button. This will prompt you to complete an adoption questionnaire. Submitting an application does not hold the animal for you.
We have dozens of animals that won't be listed online yet because they're still in their stray hold period, but can be pre-adopted at the shelter in case their owner doesn't come for them.
Adoption Fees:
$80 cats & kittens up to 6 years old
$80 dogs 6 months to 6 years, 30 lbs and up
$100 dogs under 30 lbs and/or under 6 months
$30 small animals
No fee for senior pets 7 years and older
