My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

ABOUT ME... My name is Dennis! I was rescued from a puppy mill! I am a shy, passive, and quiet boy. My foster mom keeps telling me it'll all get better with more love and cuddles, which I don't quite know how to accept yet, but I try my best. So, if I flinch, it's not personal; it's just all still new to me. One thing I LOVE is our morning and afternoon walks, where I prance and sniff to my heart's content!

I AM GREAT WITH... Other dogs, cats, men, women, and children. Even though I'm shy, I get along with everyone. I'm fully house-trained and take care of everything during morning and evening walks. Since it's cooler outside now (I have a nice fuzzy sweater that makes me overheat a little on warm days), I wouldn't mind a midday walk if you have time, but I'm okay if not. Oh, and I'm great with a loose leash! My foster mom thinks that if you have a fenced-in yard and a happy-go-lucky pup to help me learn dog world, it would probably be amazing for me! She doesn't have a crate, so I don't know how I would do in one. She has a bed for me on the floor and on her bed. I tend to stay in either place on my own.

I AM STILL WORKING ON... Since I never experienced going through doorways or stairs before, I struggle with both. My foster mom helps me up and down stairs and tries to work with me, but it's still so scary. I'd love to try to work on that with you if you have the time and patience to help me. I've only barked once ever at my foster mom's when her cat hissed at me and scared me, so don't be surprised if I don't say much. Also, I don't understand toys or the concept of playing yet. Treats are new, too, but my foster mom found one thing I love: Ol' Roy's Rawhide-Free Wrapped Rolls with Chicken. Oh, and since I had about 13 teeth removed, softer/softened foods for are easier for me for meals.

I AM NOT GOOD WITH... Meeting new people at first, and I get the shivers (especially if the focus is on me), but I calm down after a little while. Also, I can be stubborn about coming back inside after a walk. However, if my foster mom gives me a little extra time before asking me to sit. I do, and she scoops me up and carries me inside. We have a good routine, and I hope you'll be as patient with me!
