My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This handsome man was found with a bit of cloth wrapped around his neck that had started digging into him. It left a very bad wound that he spent the next four months recovering from as his healing time was slowed from being FIV positive. But he's all healed up now and ready for his forever home! There is a pretty big scar left from his wound but it doesn't bother him any. It does pull his right ear down slightly giving him an inquisitive expression.

You do need to know: Yellow is a Big man with a Lot of love to give. If you pat your lap he will come over and sit on it. He enjoys hanging out with cat friends, but doesn't actively seek them out. Dogs however are out of the question and he will attack on sight-- they shouldn't have such weird faces! Yellow is prone to overeating, so it's best to keep him on a set feeding schedule; believe me he'll let you know if you're running late with the food! He is a talkative boy who likes to tell you about his day and will talk back when you speak to him. He uses the litterbox well, but might need the largest size the store has as he has a lot of man to fit in there. Yellow is FIV positive so he will need to be indoor only.

This boy is a very sweet man who is looking to find the family he can stay with for many years.

More about this shelter

The South Suburban Humane Society is a 501(c )(3) organization that was started in 1970, serving the animal welfare needs of the entire south suburbs of Chicago. In the beginning, we handled all rescues, adoptions and provided foster care out of private homes. Since November 1973, our organization has been operating a 10,000 square foot open-door animal shelter in Chicago Heights, Illinois.

For over fifty years, our organization has helped tens of thousands of animals. We offer extensive outreach programs including humane education, and community outreach events. We also operate a resale shop located in Steger, Illinois that promotes our organization, our animals and provide much needed income to support our humane work.

The Mission of the South Suburban Humane Society is to protect and promote the well being of pets and their people in our community and beyond.
