My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Zoya is a 1.5-yr.old, 45.6lb, Husky. She was brought to the shelter by an Animal Control Officer as a stray and was never reclaimed. Upon intake it was noted that she had a wound around her neck that appears to have been from an embedded collar. Her neck was shaved to treat the wounds and she's healed nicely. Zoya is a vocal girl that loves to talk to you. She knows some basic commands and is mostly housebroken. She's great on a leash and enjoys stopping to take in all the smells on her walks. Zoya is a wooly Siberian Husky. Her coat will need near daily attention to avoid matting. NO shaving! She is also crate trained. Zoya has a larger than life personality. She's incredibly animated and likes to stand on her hind paws to reach for you when she first greets you. She likes to play, a lot, with both humans and other dogs. She hops like a rabbit when she's playing and leaps over the other dogs. She will need a home that has a lot of space for her to wrestle as well as another young, playful dog. Zoya can easily scale a 4 foot gate or fence. If you only have a 4 ft fence, you will need to closely monitor her in the yard. She would really like an area where she can run and play or a neighborhood dog park where she can stretch her legs and socialize. Zoya is an 'in your face' kind of gal and likes to be everyone's center of attention. She makes amazing eye contact and rides great in the car. She has an adventurous, derpy, happy-go-lucky personality. Zoya is spayed, heartworm negative, microchipped and current on her vaccines. She's located in MD. Anyone wishing to adopt should be willing to come to her. Transport can be considered on a case by case basis.

~~Husky Education And Rescue Team is a foster based rescue. Our dogs are in our foster homes all up and down the east coast. We do not have a facility in which you can visit. We find this a huge benefit because we learn our dogs and are able to educate our adopters on what it’s like to have them live in your home. Part of our process, once pre-approved, is to speak with the foster for the dog you’re interested in. If you’re still interested in adopting from our rescue the first step is to complete our adoption application online at www.huskyrescueteam.org/apply

Additional adoption info

Our application can be seen here: www.huskyrescueteam.org/apply

We screen all applicants by calling personal references, landlords, vet references, conducting a phone interview and doing a home inspection. We do allow for a two week trial period after the adoption contract is signed. We back our dogs for life.

We are a foster based rescue and do not have visiting hours.

More about this rescue

We are a 501(c) (3) nonprofit animal rescue organization. Our organization saves, rehabilitates, and rehomes Siberian Huskies (and other breeds of dogs) who are abandoned and are in kill shelters. We provide medical and behavioral services and rehome them to compatible families. We do this through volunteer efforts. Most of the dogs in need will come from the Southern States where the shelter kill rate is higher. We have a network of foster homes along the East Coast, while our adoption locations can be found in Maryland and New Jersey.
