My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Dale is a domestic medium hair brown male who is 3 months old. He is brother to Chip, Minnie and Clarabelle.

Meet Dale, the kitten with a heart as big as his personality. He's an adorable bundle of energy, always ready for a game of chase or a friendly wrestling match with his favorite toys. Dale's sweet nature is infectious, making everyone around him feel loved and cherished. He's also a bit of a goofball, known for his playful antics that never fail to bring a smile to your face. But Dale isn't all fun and games. He's fiercely loyal, always there to offer a comforting purr or a cuddly snuggle when you need it most. With Dale, you're not just adopting a pet, you're gaining a companion who will be by your side, bringing joy, laughter, and comfort into your life. So why should you adopt Dale? Because everyone needs a little Dale in their life.

This kittens mom tested positive for FIV and negative for FeLV.
DRK tests adoptable cats before putting them up for adoption. However, in order to achieve an accurate test result the antibodies required to trigger a positive test need between 8 weeks and 6 months to develop. As a result, the testing of kittens is rarely accurate. Due to this, kittens are not tested before 6 months. DRK conducts testing on the mother in order to provide an educated understanding of the risk of diagnosis for all potential adopters.
If the mother cat is positive for FIV, very rarely will an infected mother pass FIV to her kittens in utero or during birth. However, the risk does exist. The risk of transmission is higher depending on when the mother contracted the virus, and the circumstances of the birth. Unfortunately, this is nearly impossible to predict.

Adopters need to sign a FIV+ education release form prior to adoption acknowledging the kitten needs to be FIV tested in the future after adoption and they assume all risks associated with a potentially FIV + cat.

Dale is neutered, microchipped and is vaccinated for FVRCP. He will need his rabies vaccine when age appropriate which will be the responsibility of his adopters. His adoption fee is $300, $550 as a pair with his sibling, or $795 as a trio. To apply, please submit an adoption application.

Additional adoption info

Most of our cats live in foster homes. Some are available to meet at satellite locations such as Pet Valu and Ren's Depot. A few foster homes are available to meet and greets at their home, or we also do meet and greets at request at our shelter prior to adoption. Most of these results in same day adoptions, and only take place after an adoption interview.
