My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Slater was brought in by a community member on September 5, 2024.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Slater, the silver fox with a heart of gold! Are you ready to add a dash of charm and a sprinkle of silliness to your home? This sweet boy has been through the wringer and back but has emerged as the ultimate cuddle buddy with a talent for turning frowns upside down! He is one smart cookie, having mastered sit, down, shake (with both paws) and speak! Slater will need a little help keeping his thyroid in check with lifelong medication. Slater also has a few skin masses, one of which was removed surgically. The remaining masses are not of concern, but will still need to be monitored. Slater does have some fractured teeth that will likely need to be removed. Don't let this fool you, he's still got plenty of wiggle left in his wag! What Slater really needs is a calm, loving home where he can kick back, relax, and enjoy his golden years in style. If you're ready to give this fabulous fella a soft spot to land, you'll be rewarded with snuggles, silly antics, and a loyal companion who will steal your heart (and possibly your snacks)! Come meet Slater and don't forget to bring a leash and collar!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
