My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

**Pablo was enrolled in the Paws in Prison Program for 8 weeks of obedience training. He will be at the North Central Unit in Calico Rock. He will be crate trained, learn manners, and he will learn lots of tricks as well! Pablo will be looking for a forever home before he graduates in early December, so if you are interested in meeting him, please contact us!

Pablo showed up as a stray with his brother, Picasso. He is sweet as can be and loves to smile at you and he has the softest eyes. He was in foster care until we could bring him to the shelter, and is still getting used to the place. He is a little shy when you first meet him, but the more attention he gets, the more comfortable he becomes. Pablo is not house trained but seems super smart and eager to learn, so we don't think it will take long. He was only outdoors but loves his inside room now. He walks very well on a leash too, which was surprising. Smart little cookie, this one! He would be good with kids and other dogs. We charge a $150 adoption fee for shelter dogs, $200 for Paws in Prison trained dogs, and $75 for cats. To make application to adopt a pet you will need to go to our website schspets.org and complete an online application and someone will call you to discuss adoption process and to make an appointment to visit our shelter and cat cottage.

Our shelter is located at 17379 Highway 9 South in Mountain View, AR 72560. We are open M-Sat., from 2:00 to 5:00 and mornings by appointment only by calling 870-269-5200.

More about this shelter

The Stone County Humane Society is a 501(C)(3) private organization, not a government entity that was formed in 1999. We rescue dogs and cats and are a no-kill shelter but we are not an open take in facility. We are currently operating from our new shelter building recently completed in August 2016 and a cat cottage. Our organization is managed by a volunteer board of 10 individuals and a full-time paid employee shelter manager that handles the day to day operations, and three part-time paid employees that feed and care for the animals and keep the facility clean. Most of our daily operations are funded by proceeds from a Second Chance Shop in town and donations from individuals. We also provide low cost spay/neuter clinics to the people of our county with help from a local vet.
