My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Charlie, a handsome and loyal 5-year-old Golden Retriever/Shepherd mix who’s ready to find his perfect match! At 70 pounds, Charlie is a powerful, intelligent dog who has already learned to sit, shake, and show off his clever personality. Though he has the affectionate nature of a Golden, his Shepherd side shines through in his strength and independence.

Charlie was surrendered to RAGOM after his family’s busy life left him spending too much time alone, but he’s now on the lookout for an active, loving family that will embrace his energetic spirit and smarts. He loves walks and does great on leash—until a squirrel or rabbit comes along, and then his powerful prey drive takes over! He’ll need someone who can keep up with him and help him channel that energy in positive ways. When it comes to other dogs, Charlie is a bit of a social learner. He can live with other dogs but prefers good introductions and might want his humans all to himself. He’s learning to play with other dogs but can be a bit bossy, so patient guidance is key.

Charlie is also quite the escape artist! Whether unlatching gates, burrowing under fences, or finding ways to climb over, this smart boy needs a secure environment to keep him safe. With his intelligence and resourcefulness, he’ll thrive in a home that appreciates his creativity and gives him the structure he needs.

Once Charlie feels comfortable, his goofy and loving side comes out. He makes his foster family laugh daily with his hilarious facial expressions—especially when he’s a bit of a treat snob! He loves being touched and will give you the classic Golden nudge when it’s time for pets. His joyful “happy dance” when you walk into the room (even if you just left) will make you feel like the most important person in the world. We adore this beautiful boy!

Charlie is looking for a family that will give him the time, attention, and exercise he craves. If you’re active, ready for adventures, and want a loyal companion who will fill your life with unconditional love and laughter, Charlie just might be the dog for you!
