My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Welcome to the Wonderful World of Rescue Dachshunds.  Look around and read their bios.  Find a few whose personality seems to fit well.  Consider one of our Well Seasoned Seniors who are truly wonderful and have so much to offer.  Need help finding the best fit?  We'll help with that too.  Please fill out an application and let’s get you all matched up with a loving new “furever’ companion and friend. You’ll find the application on the “Available Dogs” page.  NOTE:   Adoptions to Central/South Texas residents only

Please see FAQs for current adoption fees.  DDRTX only adopts in Central/South Texas.

Blaze is a 4 month old puppy.  He and his brother, Casper were born to a momma that was rescued off the streets by a good samaritan.  She needed help finding the pups a home.  Blaze is chi-weenie.  One parent was dachshund and the other chihuahua.

Blaze is a great puppy!  He is super sweet and loves to snuggle and play. He sleeps well in his crate at night. He is doing great with potty training. He hasn't had any acciidents. He loves his chew toys and he loves to run around the yard with the human child in his foster home. Blaze can be a little caution but he follows the other dogs leads. He gets along with the dogs in the foster home.  Blaze has a sweet disposition!

Blaze is available for adoption under our puppy contract.

Love dachshunds and not ready to adopt or circumstances won't permit having a dog?  How about being a sponsor or making a donation.  Every one of our dachshunds receives excellent medical care along with day to day food, love and housing.  Being non-profit, we rely on generous individuals like yourselves to help save these fur babies.  You can do this specifically for one dog with the sponsor button on their webpage or a general donation on our “How To Help” page.  Easy and quick through Pay Pal or your debit/credit card.  You generosity is sincerely appreciated by all and is tax deductable.  Need other ideas?  You'll find tons of them on the How to Help tab.  All contributions are tax deductable.

More about this rescue

Diamond Dachshund Rescue of Texas is an all volunteer group in the heart of Texas that is dedicated to the health, welfare and happiness of our dachshund friends. We are based in San Antonio, Texas but we have fosters/volunteers in Austin, San Angelo and DFW areas. We are a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization. As such, we must rely heavily on donations and contributions to be able to pay the costs of health care, administrative needs, and other necessary expenses for each of our dachshunds. Diamond Dachshund has rescued, rehabilitated and placed approximately one hundred dachshunds each year since our incorporation in 1998. That's a lot of happy, healthy dogs and equally happy families! We strive to find the right home for each dog's individual personality and needs, so that the placement is permanent and both the dogs and the humans who adopt them, are equally happy.
