Kirby is a sweet boy with a little anxiety, but once you get to know him for a few hours, he’s the sweetest! He loves playing tug of war, belly rubs, walks in Central Park, and finding comfy spots around the apartment to hang out with a chew.
Kirby needs someone who can be patient and respectful of his anxiety. Loud noises frighten him, but he calms down quickly. Kirby will show you his teeth and occasionally give a warning snap if he’s scared. When he has done this, we firmly tell him “no” and give him space and he quickly calms down. As long as you respect his space, a few treats will quickly win him over and he’ll soon be rolling over, showing his belly, and begging for pets!
Kirby is super smart. He is crate trained and listens very well. He is also very food motivated and enjoys enrichment toys like puzzles and the lick pad. He is a great walker, loves to play, and is very well trained and behaved. Kirby knows tons of commands like sit, paw, lay down, and roll over.
Kirby has been through a lot of moving around and we think his anxiety will get better with time in his forever home. He truly is a wonderful boy and he is excited to cuddle and love you once you get to know him.
