My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

FIRST STEPS: Please visit https://www.save-a-mutt.org/adoption-application/ to fill out an application - a Petfinder Inquiry is not the adoption process. We don't do meet and greets until applications have been approved. All our dogs are located IN Washington State - we are a local foster based rescue and no transport from another state required. :) Thanks!

Meet Norman. This sweet Chihuahua / Poodle mix is just over 4 months old and less than 10#. DNA says he's a lot of small breeds. Norman is just the nicest boy. He's doing great with crate training, and is beyond friendly to everyone he meets. Due to his smaller size, we think children over 8 would be best.

This puppy is neutered, microchipped and fully vaccinated. Puppies are good with dogs, cats, kids and more. Being a puppy, they will need lots of training, including housebreaking. Remember, puppies are cute, but they have sharp teeth, need to be fed 3 times a day and poop... a lot!

The 3-3-3 rule is a guideline for transitioning a rescue dog into its new home and helping it to settle in. It suggests that the first three days should be used for adjusting to its new surroundings, the next three weeks for training and bonding, and the first three months for continued socialization and training.

Each dog goes home with a goody bag including collar/leash, toys, chews, Kong, and more. You will receive all medical records, microchip transfer form and other paperwork at the time of adoption.

Adoptions typically take place in Stanwood.

Adoption fee is $475. Save-A-Mutt is a registered 501c3 and half of your adoption fee may be tax deductible.

Save-A-Mutt is a foster based rescue, we do not have a facility to visit. Our adoptions are typically done Monday - Saturday, we are closed on Sunday’s to give our volunteers at least one day off. You must be available to do meets and adoptions during that time frame. We can make exceptions only with the approval of the foster home.

Please note, we have approximately a 300 mile adoption radius - Portland OR area and Vancouver BC is the farthest north. We don’t ship dogs, once approved you must pick them up in Snohomish County, WA. Canadian adopters must be able to come to Stanwood WA to pick up your puppy.

More about this rescue

Save-A-Mutt is dedicated to creating awareness about the number of adoptable dogs in shelters and rescues... and to find every dog its forever home! We do this by raising funds to A) cover the costs of transporting litters of puppies from high kill shelters to spay/neuter and adopt out; B) Focus on the welfare and final placement of Senior Dogs relinquished at area shelters, and C) assist and support local rescue groups. In addition, we hold a firm belief that 'Puppies aren't Products' and hope to stop the sale of puppies and kittens in Washington State pet stores.
