Please read the bio in full for answers to your questions. In the event you have a
question that is not covered in the bio, please email info@seniordoghaven.org. If
interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application which can be found at https://seniordoghaven.org/adoption-process/.
Please note that because all our dogs live in foster homes, we are unable to set up meetings with a dog unless we have a completed adoption application on file. Adoptions must be within a reasonable distance from Middletown, DE for our volunteers to be able to conduct an in-person home visit.
Meet Mickey and Holly! Mickey, a 10-year-old, 9lb., Chihuahua, and Holly, a 12-year-old, 8lb., Yorkie, were surrendered when their owner could no longer care for them. Absolutely bonded to one another, these two little pups needed a fresh start.
Mickey and Holly were brought into rescue and received dentals. They are both fully potty trained and will go outside or use pee pads. Mickey and Holly both have good vision and hearing and can handle stairs. They are good on a leash and crate trained. Mickey and Holly get along with both dogs and kids and could fit into any household. They are comfortable being picked up and sleep together in a dog bed. Holly is super friendly and loves to cuddle. Mickey can be more independent and will need a little bit of time to adjust to his new surroundings. Once comfortable though, he settles in beautifully.
Mickey and Holly love to run around, and their ideal home would have a fenced-in yard. They can never get enough outside fun time. Both dogs enjoy car rides and are very well behaved in their car seats. This fun duo is always together and are super easy-going. They can fit right into any home. Can it please be yours? Apply today!

The goal of Senior Dog Haven & Hospice is to find the best home possible for our senior dogs. To assist us in this endeavor, SDH&H requires a fully completed application, references, and a visit to your home by one of our trained volunteers. For this reason we only process applications within a reasonable commute from the dog's foster home.
Our adoption fee is $200, however we offer a discounted rate of $150 for senior adopters over the age of 65.

More about this rescue
We are a small, dedicated group of fosters and volunteers. We strive to improve the lives of senior dogs who find themselves without a family to care for them anymore. We do not have a facility. Our dogs live in our homes as members of our families. We provide care, comfort, companionship and, most of all, unconditional love. We have worked in senior rescue for years, and see the continuing and growing need to get them out of shelters where they are often euthanized because of their age and/or medical reasons, or from owners that find themselves in crisis and no longer able to care for their companions (nursing home, illness, abusive situations, etc).
Senior Dog Haven and Hospice is a registered 501(c)3. All donations to our rescue are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
