Sunny's ready to steal your heart this pumpkin season! He's wearing his pumpkin costume with Halloween Spirit and a lot of cuteness. He guarantees lots of belly rubs and adds joy to every day with his soft, playful personality.
Sunny's is part of the Adorably Adoptable category for Trupanion's "Tricked Out for Treats" campaign throughout October culminating with final votes on October 30th! We'd love your votes through his link, https://trickedout.trupanion.com/gallery/LZ8tjqsWO/?si=LZ8tjqsWO.
Each vote through his unique link is worth two entries; you can vote every 24 hours.
A charming 3.5-month-old male German Shepherd, Sunny's a littermate to Clem. Both are quiet, snuggly, affectionate puppies. Sunny's ready to find his forever home in the next few weeks as he's also recovering from kennel cough, although he had fewer symptoms. Sunny's hanging out with two female resident dogs in his foster home whom he adores so much that he wanted to be in their Halloween photo, too.
Sunny's also very food-motivated and adores carrots for treats; cold ones help his teeth, which are coming in on schedule. Sunny has mastered the doggy door, reliably taking his potty business outside. He also sleeps in his crate for naps with lots of toys and sleeps through the night in the crate.
Sunny adores squeaky toys, settling in a spot to enjoy each toy for a while and then seeking a different one. Sunny is an intelligent puppy picking up on good manners, modeling the exceptionally trained resident dogs.
He loves kids, visiting the neighbor kids at every oppurtunity and lives with two cats; Sunny is compatible with these cats and will likely be cat-workable with dog-savvy cats.
Sunny and Clem were at a United Way event at KCRA this week, you may have caught a glimpse of them on the evening news. United after a week apart, they were delightful together playing with each other and a fostered shelter puppy just a bit older than them. Both were also snuggly and loving with all their human fans.
Although Clem is dealing with motion sickness on car rides, Sunny's immune. He's not had any issues on car rides. He snuggles right into his person if he has company, otherwise he rides tethered with a seat belt.
We suspect that Sunny and Clem lived in a home before ending up on the streets and then the shelter as they are very comfortable with household sounds and noises, changes in flooring textures, and were easy to potty train.
Although puppies require time, energy, patience, and love to raise, shepherd puppies require an extra commitment to raising neutral adult dogs. We ask adopters interested in me to have experience with shepherds or similar herding or working breeds and the time and resources to commit to structure, environmental exposures, and training.
As a foster-based rescue, ShepHeroes is always in need of fosters. An overwhelming number of shepherds in our local shelters need our help for a fresh start. Would you be willing to share your home and part of your summer to help shepherds find new families? You provide the love, and we'll provide everything else! Saying "yes" today truly saves a life. Complete this https://www.shepheroes.org/foster-form, and we'll be in touch ASAP! We appreciate your consideration.
