My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Please read the bio in full for answers to your questions. In the event you have a
question that is not covered in the bio, please email info@seniordoghaven.org. If
interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application which can be found at https://seniordoghaven.org/adoption-process/.

Please note that because all our dogs live in foster homes, we are unable to set up meetings with a dog unless we have a completed adoption application on file. Adoptions must be within a reasonable distance from Wayne, PA for our volunteers to be able to conduct an in-person home visit.

Meet Lily! Lily is a 7-year-old, 8lb., Maltese mix who was found as a stray and brought to a shelter. Scared and matted, this sweet girl needed help.

Lily was taken into rescue and given a new beginning. Her fur was cleaned up, she received a dental, a spay, and had a lump removed from her ear. Lily has good hearing but may have trouble seeing things at a distance. She takes eye drops twice a day and the cost for these is $80 a month.

Lily is fully potty trained, can handle stairs, and gets along well with dogs and kids. She hasn’t met cats yet, but is good with bunnies. Lily has been working on leash training and would love to have a fenced-in yard. Her ideal home would be low-energy and have people around most of the time. Lily is a lap dog and she wants to be cuddled and snuggled. She loves car rides and currently goes to work with her foster mama.

Lily is a couch potato who cannot soak up enough love and kisses. She does a great job of being a lap warmer and will bring you endless joy. This sweet sweet girl will sleep in bed with you and even share your pillow. There is no such thing as too close with Lily. If you need massive amounts of cuteness in your life, please apply today!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

The goal of Senior Dog Haven & Hospice is to find the best home possible for our senior dogs.  To assist us in this endeavor, SDH&H requires a fully completed application, references, and a visit to your home by one of our trained volunteers.  For this reason we only process applications within a reasonable commute from the dog's foster home.

Our adoption fee is $200, however we offer a discounted rate of $150 for senior adopters over the age of 65.

More about this rescue

We are a small, dedicated group of fosters and volunteers. We strive to improve the lives of senior dogs who find themselves without a family to care for them anymore. We do not have a facility. Our dogs live in our homes as members of our families. We provide care, comfort, companionship and, most of all, unconditional love. We have worked in senior rescue for years, and see the continuing and growing need to get them out of shelters where they are often euthanized because of their age and/or medical reasons, or from owners that find themselves in crisis and no longer able to care for their companions (nursing home, illness, abusive situations, etc).

Senior Dog Haven and Hospice is a registered 501(c)3. All donations to our rescue are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
